Point of sail is the angle in which a sailboat can face into the wind. This dictates what position the boom will be positioned in to allow the sailboat to move forward. It is impossible for any sailboat to sail directly into the wind. A sailboat can however utilize lift on the sail, much like an airplane, to move the boat forward into the wind at an angle. These are the different angles in which you can sail into the wind.
